What is the best time to come hunting in Michigan? Our season runs from August until February. For Elk, late August is prime season for harvesting bulls. The best Whitetail Deer begins around September 15th. Michigan autumn is a beautiful time of the year to be in the Northwood’s. The scenery and changing colors are spectacular. Deer harvested between September 15th and October 15th will normally weigh an excess of 300 pounds! By the 3rd week of October, the rut is in full swing- at this time you will spot deer at all times of the day. Our deer hunting season closes in early January.
Do I need a Michigan hunting license? No, because our hunting is handled on Private grounds, we control all quotas and seasons, so you do not need any special hunting license.
